NLP - Neuro Linguistic Programming - IS based on Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the early 1970s.
It uses the assumption that people take in information based on their senses which then is processed and forms a model of their world; a model of reality. That model functions as a filter. Based on that, all other information either get distorted, deleted or generalized. All that happens on a subconscious level; it’s the work of our subconscious mind. So, the first thing in NLP is to understand your strategy to process information.
As we understand how you represent reality to yourself and which senses are pre-dominantly working for you, we are able to change the perception of the world or specific things.
NLP Coaching is different from any other kind of Coaching because we can incorporate all the NLP tools into the coaching process. Like this we are able to alter your perception or strategy or to get rid of limiting beliefs directly at the subconscious level.
Your performance shall improve in such a way that your potential can grow because we eliminate any inner interference:
Performance = potential – interference (P = p – i).
The GROW model is one of the most popular frameworks to conduct a coaching session. Powerful questions will raise your awareness for what you want exactly in order to find out to what higher purpose your goal is linked to.
At the beginning we are going to elicit your desired state by defining a well-formed goal. The coach is listening carefully, analyzing and therefore challenging your deletions, distortions and generalizations, so you will have clarity about what it is that you want to achieve. Then we will explore your current reality, identifying obstacles and potential resources through questioning and encouragement. Having done that we might need to loop back to the goal to correct it if necessary. After that we will explore all possible options you may have to achieve your goal; encouraging you to take everything into consideration even if it may seem silly at that time. Eventually we will look at what exactly you can do and set up an action plan.
As a result, you will leave the coaching session with a better understanding what specifically you want to achieve, why you want to achieve it and how you know that you have achieved it. You will also have a set of defined actions that lead you to your defined goal.
